
CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program
You can receive up to $100 per window or door (up to 20 windows)!
Homeowners can claim up to $2000.
Effective Dates: Application must be submitted within 6 months of the invoice date.
Program Details: As part of the CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program you can receive up to $100 per window or door (up to 20 windows) for replacing your current exterior windows or doors with program qualified products. This upgrade can count towards the Two Upgrade Bonus or the Home Energy Improvement Bonus.

Requirements
In order to qualify for this rebate, all of the following requirements must be met. Please read them carefully. Contact an Energy Coach if you have questions.
Requirements for the home
You must live in an eligible home:
- The home must be a year-round primary residence that is at least 12 months old.
- You must have a residential utility account with FortisBC, BC Hydro, or a municipal utility.
- The home must be one of the following types:
- Single family home (detached dwelling)
- Secondary suite in a single-family home (detached dwelling), with its own separate utility meter
- Mobile home that is permanently fixed, sits on a foundation and is structurally complete with installed and connected plumbing, heating, electrical, water and sewer services; towing apparatus and axle must be removed
- Duplex, triplex, row home or townhome, where each unit has its own natural gas and/or electricity meter; utility accounts must be in the name of the resident and/or homeowner. Utility accounts in the name of a strata corporation are not eligible.
- Your home must be primarily heated with:
- Natural Gas or piped-propane supplied by FortisBC
- Natural Gas supplied by Pacific Northern Gas
- Electricity supplied by FortisBC, BC Hydro, or a municipal utility
- Oil or propane not supplied by FortisBC
- Premises primarily heated by wood or other solid fuels are not eligible.
*If the home is heated with electricity supplied by BC Hydro, the home must meet a minimum electricity consumption. Use the BC Hydro Home Renovation Rebate program eligibility tool to determine whether your home meets the minimum electricity consumption rates.
Requirements for your contractor
All new windows and doors must be installed:
- By a licensed contractor with a GST number and a valid B.C. business license for the trade
applicable to the upgrade being installed.- Self-installations are not eligible.
- Must replace existing windows and doors in the building envelope of the home between an unheated space (e.g. outdoors) and a heated space (e.g. indoors).
- Skylights are not eligible for a rebate.
Requirements for the upgrade
The new windows and doors must:
- Be replacing existing windows and/or doors in the building envelope. Windows installed in new rough openings are ineligible.
- Tier 2 windows/doors: New windows/doors must have a metric U-Factor of 1.22 (W/m2·K) or lower.
- Windows must be listed with one of the following certification bodies:
- Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
- Intertek Canada (Intertek)
- Keystone Certification (KC)
- Labtest Certification (LC)
- QAI Laboratories (QAI)
- National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC)
- Doors must be listed with one of the following certifications or found on Natural Resource Canada’s Energy Star certified door lists:
- Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
- Intertek Canada (Intertek)
- Labtest Certification (LC)
- QAI Laboratories (QAI)
- Keystone Certification (KC)
- National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC)
- A photo of a least one label showing one or more of the following: manufacturer model code/number, NRCan reference number or a certified products directory (CPD) number, plus a certified mark from the certifying body.
